How Fantasy Points Work

Leaderboard

Pick eight teams in order. Every time one of your teams plays, you earn (or lose) points based on the result and the slot you placed that team in. Higher slots are riskier — they swing the most points. Here's the full breakdown.

1 · Points per match

Each of your eight picks scores independently for every match it plays, using its slot's weighting:

Slot Win Draw Loss
1st team +15 -5 -15
2nd team +10 0 -10
3rd team +5 +3 -5
4th–8th team +3 +1 -3
Slots 4 through 8 all share the same +3 / +1 / −3 weighting. Your total is the sum across all eight teams' eligible matches.
2 · A worked example

Say after one matchday your teams produced these results:

Slot & team Result Base Bonus Points
1. Brazil Win +15 +1 +16
2. France Draw 0 0
3. Argentina Win +5 +5
4. Spain Loss -3 -3
5. Croatia Win +3 +3
Matchday total +21

Notice the slot-1 win (+15) carries the day, while the slot-1 loss would have cost −15 — that's the risk of your top pick. The lower slots move the needle far less, so spread your safest bets there.

3 · Bonus points
Matchday leader

+1 for each of your teams sitting top of its group when a matchday finishes.

Bracket qualification

+1 for each of your teams that qualifies for the knockout bracket — awarded once per team.

4 · When you can edit your picks
  • At registration Submit all eight teams in order — one team per group during the group stage.
  • Group stage — locked 🔒 From the first group game until the group stage ends, picks are frozen.
  • Post-group window — open ✏️ Once the groups finish you can replace all eight teams before the knockouts begin.
  • Knockouts — locked for good 🔒 At the first knockout kickoff, picks lock for the rest of the tournament.

Visibility: you can see everyone else's picks only while editing is locked. While the board is open for changes, other players' selections stay hidden — but you can always see your own.

5 · The leaderboard & tie-breakers

Players are ranked by total points. The board shows your total, your base (win/draw/loss) points, and your bracket-qualification bonus count. When totals are level, ties break in this order:

  1. Higher base points (slot-weighted results, bonuses excluded)
  2. Higher score from slot-1 picks
  3. Higher score from slot-2 picks
  4. More bracket-qualification bonuses
  5. Earlier selection completion time

Late registration: only matches that kick off after you complete your selection count for you. Any match already started when you registered is skipped — no points, no penalties.
